Play is at the heart of everything we do. At Yellow Door we believe that helping you to offer language-rich play environments is the best thing we can do together to enhance children’s learning, their well-being and their future success.

Loving learning

If we want children to be playful learners, we think we should set them a good example. At Yellow Door we have a lot of fun creating products and we love a challenge – whether it is working out how to create things out of stone; finding new materials to print on so our resources can be used outside all year round; or developing new features for our interactive software such as the facility for children to record their own stories.

Caring about quality

We work very hard to ensure the resources we create are properly fit for purpose. Take our Alphabet Pebbles, for example. Children love collecting pebbles and so we were excited when the very inspiring Helen Bromley first suggested this idea to us. However, we soon discovered it posed a challenge too. If you put anything on the surface of a stone, it can be ground off, especially when used in sand (just think for a moment about how sand is made). And who wouldn’t want to play with pebbles in the sand? So, our pebbles are specially cast with the letter shape engraved into the surface of the stone and paint applied to each indented letter by hand. We’ve been making them that way since 2008 because there is no other way to create a product that has all the natural appeal of real stone and will stand up to rigorous use throughout an early years environment. This means limitless play possibilities for the children and the complete reassurance of a durable product for you.
